A fully procedural chainmail material supporting several customization options. The graph may look sparse but a lot of the work is being done in FXMaps and Pixel Processors.
Customization includes : Color variation based on several functions, Random position offsets, Randomly missing links, Corrosion (Age) and other options.
The material works well in Substance Painter but for some reason does not work in Player.

Fantastic... !
Really clean, subtil and great work !
Awesome work!
Thanks for the notes etc in your sbs, seems I have a tonne to learn...
nice
Excellent work !
So believable looking! Inspiring!
Totally epic! Thank you for also providing plenty of notes in your sbs, this makes it an incredible learning resource.
Looks amazing! :)
great job!
wow, excellent!
Félicitation pour le top 3!
I expected you in top 3. Done !
Congratulation ! :D
Unbelievable! I make chainmail in real life, and I would have a hard time distinguishing this from a photo of my own work!
One very tiny comment. The only giveaway for me that this is not a photo is that the rings are seamless. Real chainmail has either butted or riveted links, not full circles. That being said, this is still seriously awesome work!
Merci! Thanks everyone! :)
@scott_22 : yes i played around with welds and rivets but i couldnt quite make them work in a random fashion. I then ran out of time. I may revisit the material once i figure it out, i also have other features id like to add that would be useful in Painter.
Unbelievable good work! It looks so nice! And the ammount of different customization is even more jaw-dropping! The only thing missing now to make this perfect is a riveted mail option. I would love to see this!
Thanks , this is helpful and powerful :)
thanks! beautiful work
Thank you
could you tell me why it doesn't appear metallic?
Wonderful! You put so much detail into your materials.
Amazing! I'm having a hard time making it small enough though. is there a way to adjust the size outside of pattern size?
Thank you
Amazing stuff. Couldnt ask for a better chainmail mat ;)
excellent thanks so much
Fantastic!!!!
Thanks for the texture
Please help! Fantastic work but i cant find WHERE ARE Customization node? I just cant see it(
Hello Longchamps (i'm french too). Congrats, the material is great !!! However, like said scott_22, it is modern factory made chainmail (indians and chinese make a lot of modern chainmail for historical reconstitutions). True medieval chainmail was not "butted" (one extremity crushed to the other), because it doesn't have any resistance against piercing attacks. It was riveted, with the two extremities hold together with a rivet. Your material is photorealistic and really great for 3D renders, but it will be scoffed at by medievists and historian. You should find how "riveted chainmail" is made by googling it.
