Creature Scales material.
Completely procedural.

A lot of exposed parameters for randomness, color, HSL adjustments, details, etc. Optional color input for a custom color map.

The graph is well documented with notes and explanations ,but if you have additional questions, feel free to ask.

is it possible to change the flow of the scales?

I thought about that when creating the material, and the scales are already set up to rotate from the base. I might look at it again but if i remember there was an issue with input maps in painter and tiling. When i have time i might try it again. Generating a proper flow map is not trivial either, hand painting is not so easy.
